Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Consentify, privacy, and GDPR.

Why choose Consentify over other solutions?

Consentify is built for speed, simplicity, and multi-site management. Unlike complex enterprise tools, our platform lets you manage multiple domains from a single, intuitive dashboard. Our script is lightweight and delivered via an edge network, ensuring your site's performance is never compromised. You get powerful features without the bloat.

How easy is it to customize the banner?

It couldn't be easier. Our built-in visual editor gives you full control over colors, layout, fonts, and text in real-time. You can design a banner that perfectly matches your brand's look and feel without writing a single line of code.

Can I really use Consentify for free?

Yes. Our Free plan is perfect for small websites and personal projects. It includes one domain and all the core features you need to be GDPR-compliant. As you grow, you can easily upgrade for more domains and higher pageview limits.

How does Consentify improve my website's performance?

Our consent script is highly optimized and loads asynchronously from a global edge network. This means it doesn't block your page from rendering. Third-party scripts (like analytics or ads) are only loaded *after* a user gives consent, ensuring you get the best possible Core Web Vitals scores.

Is Consentify fully GDPR-compliant?

Yes, Consentify provides the tools you need to meet the cookie consent requirements of GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. Our system is actively maintained to stay aligned with the latest regulations, ensuring your banners are always compliant.

What is my responsibility as a website owner?

As the website owner (data controller), you are ultimately responsible for overall GDPR compliance. Consentify acts as your data processor, providing a robust technical tool to help you correctly obtain, manage, and log user consent for cookies. For legal advice specific to your business, we always recommend consulting a privacy expert.

Where is the consent data stored?

All consent data is securely stored on encrypted servers within the EU, ensuring full compliance with GDPR's data residency requirements.

Do I need a 'Reject All' button on my banner?

Yes, according to recent GDPR guidelines, users must be given an equally clear choice to accept or reject cookies. All Consentify banners include 'Accept' and 'Decline' options by default to ensure you are compliant from the start.

How does Consentify work with Google Tag Manager?

Consentify works with GTM, but for the cleanest and most reliable setup we recommend moving your tracking tools (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel and so on) out of GTM and adding them directly in Consentify. That way each tool is blocked until the visitor agrees, and your cookie declaration always matches what actually runs. If you prefer to keep GTM, your Google tools are still covered automatically through Google Consent Mode v2, which Consentify sets up for you. Anything non-Google that you load through GTM (for example a Meta Pixel added as custom HTML) needs a consent trigger configured inside GTM itself, because no consent platform can block tags that fire from inside your GTM container. During onboarding our scanner detects the tools running inside your GTM so you can see exactly what is there.

Do I have to remove Google Tag Manager to use Consentify?

No, you do not have to remove GTM. Consentify runs alongside it and handles consent for your Google tools automatically through Consent Mode v2. Moving your tags into Consentify is a recommendation, not a requirement, because it gives you per-tool blocking and a cookie declaration that stays accurate on its own. If your GTM setup changes over time, you can re-scan your site from the Tools page so your declaration stays up to date.
